MAHPERD Legends Golf Tournament
On October 17, 2026 we will be holding our fifth annual MAHPERD Legends Golf Tournament! This event provides members, friends, colleagues, and the families the opportunity to enjoy a fun day of golf, followed by dinner, raffle prizes, and a silent auction of amazing sports memorabilia! Each year, we are pleased to highlight a MAHPERD Legend, while raising funds for a charity cause near and dear to their heart. This year, we are happy to honor Jack Mosko as our MAHPERD Legend.
Jack Mosko dedicated six decades to the field of Physical Education, beginning his teaching career in 1978. He served on the MAHPERD Executive Board in multiple vice presidential roles before concluding his leadership as Co-Chair of Advocacy upon his retirement in 2021. For 24 years, he has been an active member of the Woburn Host Lions Club, regularly contributing his time to community service while balancing family activities, coaching at Revere High School, and organizational responsibilities. Through the Lions, he supported initiatives focused on vision and accessibility, collaborating with organizations such as the Carroll Center for the Blind, the Perkins School for the Blind, the National Braille Press, and the National Beep Baseball Association.
His passion for adaptive sports grew after participating in a Lions-sponsored beep baseball tournament featuring the Boston Renegades and other New England teams. Serving as a pitcher, he developed a deep commitment to the sport and became an advocate for expanding opportunities for visually impaired athletes. In collaboration with Joe Quintanilla and Joe Walsh of Adaptive Sports New England, he helped establish the Boston Strong beep baseball team. The team has since competed twice in the National Beep Baseball World Series and hosted numerous clinics for visually impaired athletes ranging in age from 10 to 70. In April, he achieved a lifelong dream by participating in a game at Fenway Park. There, he had the honor of pitching the play that led to the first run scored by a Boston Strong player, marking a memorable milestone in his enduring commitment to sport and community. All proceeds from this year’s golf tournament will benefit Adaptive Sports New England.
Adaptive Sports New England is a Massachusetts non-profit organization dedicated to increasing participation in sports among New England youth and adults who have vision or mobility impairments. Adaptive Sports New England collaborates with adaptive-specific and typical sports programs, adding value through their focus on raising awareness, increasing participation, and building capacity so that more youth and adults with visual or mobility disabilities can access sports closer to home.
There is plenty of time to get your foursome together (or register solo and we will place you in a group!). Please help us to reach our goal of filling the tournament this year! And if you can get a department/district team together, you have a chance at the Educator’s Cup (current champs from last year is Chicopee!) Please see the attached information in the newsletter for more information, including how to register yourself or your team! The MAHPERD Legends Golf Tournament will be held at Pine Ridge Country Club (28 Pleasant St, North Oxford, MA) on Saturday, October 17, 2026. Pre-round lunch, 11:00 am shotgun start and 18 holes will be followed by dinner, raffles, prizes and silent auction. Please come on out and enjoy a beautiful, scenic course while supporting a great cause! Cost is $135 per golfer which includes lunch, golf, cart, and dinner! 100% of funds raised will be donated to Adaptive Sports New England.
