Patricia A. "Patsy" Smith, 88, a lifelong resident of Brockton, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton after a lengthy illness. Born September 20, 1932 in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late Thomas A. Smith and Mary Edna (Walsh) Smith. Pat was MAHPERD Past President in 1971, a recipient of the MAHPERD Honor Award and recipient of the Joseph McKenney Award in 1982. We will never forget her commitment and dedication to our association that has thrived because of leaders like Pat. She was an inspiration to all.
We are sad to inform the membership that one of MAHPERD’s pioneers and true leaders has died. Mary “Betty” Arnold was Past President of MAHPERD in 1975 and a recipient of the MAHPERD Honor Award. Her leadership, kind heart and steadfast devotion and support of our organization will never be forgotten.
It is with great sadness that MAHPERD announces the loss of Past President (1988) Bill Considine. We remember Bill as a true gentleman and a wonderful advocate and educator for the allied professions. He was a dynamic leader for our association and one of the reasons why it flourishes today. Bill passed away on Friday, March 26, 2021. Our prayers and thoughts go out to his family and to Springfield College community.
